Love, Death & Corinna Corinna: French Folk-Rock Singer Releases Single “Je Serai La”

Before becoming Corinna Corinna, Corinne A. was born to a middle class family in 1964. At the age of four, her family had been devastated by the sudden and unexpected loss of three relatives. The tragedy left Corinne and her family in disarray; they were forced to move forward after the unthinkable. As her father began to find solace in listening to music like jazz, soul, rock and blues -so did Corinne. She began to learn to play the guitar, strumming and singing in the privacy of her own home but never making the leap to self-titled “musician”. To Corinne, life as a musician was an unattainable pipe dream; it was something that was reserved for the elite.

She moved on, beginning her journey into higher education and eventually becoming a psychologist and management consultant. Yet music still called to Corinne. She found herself frequenting Parisian blues clubs nightly until it finally clicked; this is what she’s meant to be doing. At 36 years old with two kids, Corinne put pen to paper; writing and composing her own music -even eventually forming her own folk and blues cover band. Her journey as a soloist wasn’t far behind. In 2020 Corinne recorded five titles with numerous other artists, officiating her career and actualizing her childhood dreams. All she needed was a stage name. Corrine thought back to her childhood and the music that shaped her into the musician that she had become. After some careful thought, Corinne chose to pay homage to Bob Dylan’s 1964 song, “Corinna Corinna” -the bird that sings.

“Parce qu’il faudra bien un jour que j’aille voir là-bas si j’y suis.”

“Because one day I will have to go see if I am there.” -Corinna Corinna

Now, in 2022, Corinna Corinna has released her solo track “Je Serai La”. The single touches on the subject of death and coming to terms with the inevitable. “Je Serai La” not only reconciles with the idea of mortality, but embraces it as an integral part of our life cycle. The song’s acoustic elements, as explained by Corinna Corinna, are inspired by blues music. The track starts slow, carried forward by the steady strumming of the guitar. However, at around 45 seconds in you are met with production reminiscent of The Rolling Stones and Tom Petty and The Heartbreakers.

You can listen to Corinna Corinna and her upcoming projects on streaming platforms such as SoundCloud and Bandcamp.
