Lily Born at Night is a west coast folk-rock songwriter, originally from eastern Canada. Lily’s music is influenced by artists such as Ray Lamontagne and Tracy Chapman, and you can hear those influences in her recently released debut album Been a Ride, which was produced by Grammy award winner Joby Baker. Lily is deeply inspired by the twists and turns of life, and crafts those experiences into heartfelt melodies that tell stories of love, loss, and ultimately resilience.

One of the singles off of her album is “For a Minute.” It details Lily’s desire to shake things up and live life to the fullest. It’s a desire that has been difficult to fulfill due to lockdowns over the past year or so, but the difficulty is almost what makes it even more desirable. Tapping into her classic folk-rock sound, Lily eases listeners into the song with sultry guitar strums to back her elegantly-toned vocals. Her chorus holds a certain sway that is calm and reassuring, complementing her serene vocals. The song picks up more of a rock ambiance as it enters the second chorus. Rocking guitar riffs take over the soundscape to give the song a bit more of an edge, moving away from its previously folk-focused sound, but still remaining effortless.

The song is paired with a visual lyric video which Lily put together. You can check it out below! Be sure to listen to the rest of Been a Ride as well.
