LEVITATION Austin is just two weeks away! The event is back with another banger in downtown Austin, TX for Halloween weekend: October 28-31. LEVITATION brings another year of genre and decade-spanning artists from across the globe for intimate performances in several venues across the city’s downtown Red River Cultural District and East Side. The special performances will feature lineups of Night Flight, Death By Audio, Creem, 100% Electronica, Gorilla Vs Bear, The Reverberation Appreciation Society, Spaceflight Records, plus shows at Mohawk presented with Austin’s new Resound Presents. The LEVITATION LOUNGE is also another special event happening this year at The Green Jay Bar. It will be a series of events open to all those who have tickets (21+) to experience DJ sets from official LEVITATION artists, late night shows, drinks and pop-up shops from event sponsors Jerzees and Dark Matter Coffee and Vox.
Levitation was founded in 2008 as Austin Psych Fest, by members of The Black Angels and friends. This independent event sparked a movement that inspired the creation of many similar events across the globe. Later Austin Psych Fest was renamed as LEVITATION in honour of Austin’s psychedelic rock pioneers The 13th Floor Elevators. In 2018, LEVITATION returned to its downtown Austin roots. They created a walkable, intimate and community-focused event that showcases the city’s world-renowned music venues. LEVITATION 2021 will be an epic 4-day weekend with music and art of Austin’s diverse Red River Cultural District and east side venues and art spaces.

In addition to the flagship event in Austin, the group has also curated LEVITATION events in France, Chicago and Vancouver, along with special events in Europe and Latin America, plus a huge, diverse annual LEVITATION showcase at SXSW. The Reverberation Appreciation Society record label has released records by key bands in the psych and garage rock scene like Frankie & The Witch Fingers, Night Beats, Holy Wave, Ringo Deathstarr and many more – with new releases on the way. Even amidst the pandemic, LEVITATION released several live performance streams and live albums via LEVITATION Sessions, to provide a musical lifeline for fans and artists, and to raise funds for non-profits and causes like the National Independent Venue Association, Direct Relief and Red River Cultural District.
