Let Your Mind Wander With Alpha Chino’s ‘Soft Focus’

Focusing is one of the ways we create sense of the world we live in. It’s a piece in the cog of how we operate. Accompanied by all our senses (common sense included), with it we can navigate our lives more efficiently than a train on an off day. If you come to think of it, it’s a super power we all share as living creatures. The amount of it and how frequent we use it are the only variables that makes us unique. It’s our Spidey Sense of sorts but minus the web slinging and crawling.

Speaking of usage, goofing off or allowing yourself to wander from time to time isn’t a hill to die on. It’s a way to decompress and a catalyst to fascinating discoveries that we might have overlooked before. This same point of view is shared by Wrexham, North Wales band Alpha Chino with their song ‘Soft Focus’. Released March 26th in all major streaming platforms and part of their Debut EP. This track talks about a night in a music festival with buddies. Wherein a slip in attention unlocked a brand new roster of colorful characters that accompanied him way past sunrise.

Whether that lapse was caused by a substance or the mind just going rogue on its master. We can’t deny that it was a unique setup that turned a mishap into an opportunity. Through it, horizons were expanded and new connections were forged. But the best part of it all was there was this freedom to be whoever because he was amidst strangers. Its like finding a brand new slate to write your story on. “Delete a picture. Erase a memory. Change your identity. (Be who you wanna be)” as the lyrics would say over and over.

“I play guitar. You sing the melody. You and I could be a perfect harmony.”. In what should’ve been a chaotic and hectic situation, Alpha Chino reminds us  that there’s still peace to be found there. With infectiously energetic vocals, instrumentals that shock your system with delight and beat drops that boosts your adrenaline. ‘Soft Focus’ exclaims to the universe that a hiccup in one’s plans doesn’t mean everything is ruined. It all depends on how you view and approach it much like how focusing works in the first place.
