‘Lesbian Jesus’ Hayley Kiyoko Gives Fans the ‘Greenlight’ to Dance
Hayley Kiyoko is ready to start a new era. With the release of “Greenlight,” sapphic songstress Kiyoko is simultaneously showing a more mature side while keeping the fun pop energy fans expect of her.
She begins the track in a lower register, almost setting up a rock performance. That is until the chorus when she seamlessly transitions into a falsetto tone. She calls out:
I wanna follow the green light
I wanna follow the green light, it’s callin’ me
I wanna keep goin’ and goin’
Keep goin’ and goin’
“Greenlight” by Hayley Kiyoko
It’s exciting, encouraging and perfect for inspiring adventure. Kiyoko shared more on the track:
“Greenlight” is about making an active decision to put your energy into the things that are working. Of course there will be roadblocks along the way, but we become our best selves when we surround ourselves with people who challenge us in a healthy way, encourage us to keep digging deeper and support our overall journey.

The song, produced by German — who is known for his work with Justin Bieber, Camilla Cabello, Zara Larsson — is practically pop perfection. Its beat is infectious and danceable.
The magical lure of the tune fits perfectly with Kiyoko’s already captivating discography.
This song comes just around ten months after the release of her second full-length album, PANORAMA, which can be listened to here:
Kiyoko is currently wrapping up “The Panorama Tour” with a few cities and few tickets left. Check out the last cities below:
Kiyoko has been busy recently. Her debut novel, “Girls Like Girls,” comes out May 30. Based on her iconic sapphic song and music video by the same name, “Girls Like Girls” is one of the most anticipated literary releases of the summer.
The music video, which stars former Disney stars Stefanie Scott and Kelsey Asbille, shot Kiyoko into stardom past her similar Disney Channel past. Watch the video:
Since then, Kiyoko has been a queer icon, and if “Greenlight” proves anything, it seems that the title of “Lesbian Jesus” won’t be leaving anytime soon.
