It’s Here: The Much Anticipated Return of RVBY MY DEAR
Rising dream-pop artist RVBY MY DEAR released her latest single, “Black Moon”, on February 11th -marking her return from a three year hiatus. The song is her first project released since moving to Los Angeles, California to reestablish as an independent solo artist.
RVBY MY DEAR, otherwise known as Gabbi Coenen, is a singer, songwriter, and multi-instrumentalist originally from Perth, Western Australia. Coenen’s journey as an artist began at the age of four when she was classically trained in piano -introducing her to the world of music. Coenen later began singing, eventually pursuing singing and moving to New York. This was the catalyst for the formation of RVBY MY DEAR. The pseudonym was created as an outlet for Coenen’s songwriting -allowing her to further solidify her presence as an artist. Later in 2019, her debut album, “Waiting”, was released on digital and vinyl by Villainy Records. It received critical acclaim, and was even featured in Trip-Hop Nation’s 50 Best Albums of 2019 list.

After experimenting in the music industry, Coenen moved to Los Angeles to pursue her career as a solo artist. Now, in 2022, RVBY MY DEAR has made a much anticipated return. Her latest single, “Black Moon”, is what we know and love about RVBY MY DEAR. The chillingly-beautiful vocals performed by Coenen are the perfect pair to the mysterious beats featured on the track. “Black Moon” is an ode to the perils of scrolling on your phone late at night. “(The lyrics) describe the inescapable allure of endlessly doom-scrolling, as we muddle our way through a seemingly never-ending isolation, desperate to find any form of connection while ignoring those closest to us,” explains RVBY MY DEAR.
