Hyro the Hero is best known for his heavy rock and rap sound, but not even he is immune to the nostalgia of ʼ90s music. He’s preparing for his forthcoming studio album Bound For Glory, which is slated to release on September 15 via Better Noise Music. In the meantime, he’s paying tribute to the artists that shaped him by sharing a heavy rock cover of the 1996 track “Woo Hah!! Got You All In Check,” originally by Busta Rhymes.
‘Woo Hah’ is my shout out to the old school classic hip-hop that made me. It’s a Hyro the Hero-style spin on a track that taught me how to recognize the importance of standing out as an artist compared to everyone else. Busta Rhymes was spitting fire on this track, so you know I had to come correct.

Flashing golden and neon pink lights dominate the official live-action lyric video. It also features some editing elements reminiscent of the ʼ90s era of music videos, like Hyro the Hero singing through a TV or picture frame. The bold aesthetic is a solid match for the energy Hyro builds in this track. Those who already know the song will be pumped to hear this reimagination, injecting a new sound to the lyrics Busta Rhymes fans already know and love.

The Texas-born-and-raised artist released the cover on the same date as 713 Day, an unofficial Houston Holiday celebrating the city. Hyro joined in with a curated 14-track Spotify playlist of his own, titled “Hyro The Hero: H-Town Playlist,” to share more of the artists that inspired him — from ʼ80’s rockers King’s X to rapper Mike Jones — along with some of his own singles, like “Sho Nuff” taken from his upcoming album. Bound For Glory will reveal 12 songs, exploring Hyro’s dynamic journey as an artist.
Sometimes you may have to go through fires, climb mountains, go face-to-face with enemies and maybe even leap tall buildings in a single bound. Somehow you keep going no matter what difficulties may arise because a fire inside is the energy that drives you and there’s a voice inside reminding you that you’re ‘Bound For Glory.’ My album is that voice and that fire is the music on this record.
