Hazel Rose Dee and Skrillex Reunite at Parklife Festival
Influencer Hazel Rose Dee and renowned DJ Skrillex met for the second time at Parklife Festival in Manchester, England. The pair had met 12 years earlier, creating a “full circle moment” for Hazel as the previous meeting was before her transition.
Hazel is a transgender social media influencer, best known for her older YouTube videos and Tumblr profile. The online star now has incredibly successful Twitter and Instagram accounts, with a combined over 200K followers across her social media profiles. She has 175K subscribers on her YouTube channel, despite not posting in over 2 years.
Skrillex is one of the most popular American DJs of all time, and recently performed at the Parklife Festival alongside other headliners like The 1975, Fred Again.., Becky Hill, Wu-Tang Clan, and more. The DJ is most recognized for his music within the dubstep and EDM genres, with hits like “Bangarang” and “Rumble”. He’s also part of Jack Ü with Diplo, as the pair released “Where Are Ü Now (feat. Justin Bieber)” and “Take Ü There (feat. Kiesza)”, two of the biggest songs of the 2015-16 era.
Skrillex is fresh off a double album release, with his second studio album Quest for Fire being released on February 17, 2023, and his third studio album Don’t Get Too Close being released just one day later. The latter was a surprise drop that was announced at Skrillex’s Madison Square Garden performance on the same day.
On Quest for Fire, the second to last song is titled “Hazel Interlude” which samples Hillary Duff’s “What Dreams Are Made Of” from Lizzie McGuire. Though unrelated to the meeting between Hazel and Skrillex, it’s definitely a fun coincidence that the pair met only a few months after the release of that track!
Make sure to check out Skrillex’s two new albums, and keep up to date with Hazel on her Twitter account.
