Faye Webster Releases New Single and Announces Tour

Indie darling Faye Webster makes a return to music after two years with the release of “But Not Kiss.”

The song discusses the dilemma between romantic longing and intimacy. This is characterized by Webster’s signature country-tinged alternative pop and an explosive piano hook in between. It alternates between near-whispered vocals to brash maximalist piano. The musician reveals that the song symbolizes the conflicting feelings of love.

“I think it could be a really romantic song or a really anti-romantic song It’s something I’ve looked for but struggled to find in other love songs, for them to describe this conflict or contradiction.

To celebrate the release of the single, Webster also unveiled an accompanying music video directed by Kyle Ng of Brain Dead and filmed at Los Angeles’ famed Bob Baker Marionette Theatre. The visuals highlight the dreaminess of the track as we are serenaded by the singer.

Another way to establish her return to music was by announcing a North American headlining fall tour, with kicking it off on Oct. 17 at Washington D.C’s 930 Club and wrapping it up on Nov. 17 in her hometown of Atlanta at the Eastern. Additional dates can be seen below.

I Know I’m Funny haha is her most recent full-length release which features “In A Good Way,” one of her most played tracks on Spotify, as well as a favorite of former President Obama in his annual playlist. In addition, her 2019 release Atlanta Millionaires Club is one of her most acclaimed albums with the inclusion of standout tracks like the twangy love song “Right Side of My Neck” and the sweet, jazzy “Kingston.” It was also touted by music critics as being able to pull off the inclusion of R&B and rap into an alternative, country-pop landscape.

Webster is a self-taught musician and has been surrounded by music her whole life as a result of her family being professional bluegrass and country players. At the age of 24, she has released works that showcase her maturity and we can only expect to see her musicianship grow with the release of future music.
