Eden Rain’s New Single “Taking” Teases Upcoming EP

Some relationships are just draining. On “Taking,” released today, alt-pop artist Eden Rain opens up about losing yourself in a relationship with someone you know will only continue letting you down. It’s a one-sided game of give and take, but you’re always giving in, and they’re always taking everything.

I feel like I got a big pot and stirred together the relationship experiences of everyone I know. It’s not just a love thing — It’s kind of about the struggle of wanting to be close to someone but feeling like they’re gonna ruin your life. It’s the push and pull of how much you’ll let someone manipulate you til the degree where you’re either still enjoying it or feel in control.

Eden Rain

The London-based artist taps into the painfully relatable, all-too-familiar feeling of being consumed by a relationship. Standout storytelling and sharp production define Eden Rain’s work, making her a musician to watch out for.

Her alternative sound is hazy with dominant drums enriched by electronic production. With catchy hooks and emotionally charged lyrics, this track brings an edge to authentic alt-pop.

I think dynamics in romantic and platonic relationships are really interesting, I love dissecting rom-coms. I wrote this after watching a film, which made me think about how much you give up of yourself willingly to suit another person, or what they take away from you without even meaning to.

With a lyric video to match, Eden Rain gets vulnerable about the intricacies of human relationships — in front of a neon-lit carnival, an electric and enchanting watch.

“Taking” is a sneak peek into Eden Rain’s upcoming EP, Anyway, How Are You? Set for release on Nov. 15, the EP will explore all things human relationships. And next month, Eden Rain will take to the stage at her biggest headline show yet at the MOTH Club in London, on Nov. 12 — secure your tickets here
