If you are a fan of Lil Uzi Vert’s of any kind, like myself, you probably know that his new single “Futsal Shuffle 2020”, amongst two others in 2019, has been well awaited. By this I mean that Uzi fans have been patiently (or impatiently, rather) waiting on him to drop his upcoming studio album Eternal Atake, which many expected to be out by now.

Going on three years since his last album, Uzi has a tendency to keep us on a leash when he knows his fan base ready for more. Whether or not you like Lil Uzi Vert’s music, pretty much nothing can be said against the man’s dancing abilities.

Breakdancing since he was a kid, the renowned Uzi Shoulder Roll amongst many others that make up his recognizable style have been a part of Uzi’s image and persona since as long as I can remember.

This being said, he finally gave us more with the release of the music video for “Futsal Shuffle”, which he has been teasing on multiple social media platforms for weeks until its release date of January 6th, 2020. This complicated looking shuffle inspired thousands to jump on the “#Futsalshuffle2020” train and post their own videos online attempting the dance even before the full video came out.

The music video opens up with hyper saturated quality to it that is instantly noticeable. Uzi stands alone in what appears to be an empty warehouse, lit up by a vibrant blue light, contrasting his red clothing that happens to be a full Rihanna Anti world tour outfit (ahh!). This lasts only until the song fully begins, after which he is instantly flanked by friends as they begin to indisputably murder this floor with the quick and precise movements that make up this new dance.

The rest of the music video follows in this pattern, featuring a diverse amount of dancers, often even putting their own spin on the dance. The video flashes between vibrant clips of Uzi rapping and dancing toward the camera, occasionally a dancing anime girl, and individuals and groups of people in various settings moving along to the music.

The combination of visual effects and Lil Uzi Vert’s infectious big energy throughout the music video makes it undeniably contagious, and I look forward to the release of his full album Eternal Atake, in 2020.
