Demi Lovato Makes Sure Fans Are ‘Cool For the Summer’ With A New Take on the 2015 Hit.
Demi Lovato just dropped a sultry and gritty reimagining of one of their most iconic chart-toppers, ‘Cool for the Summer.’
Initially dropped as the lead single for Lovato’s fifth studio album Confident, ‘Cool for the Summer’ is the most recent of the pop star’s rocking reimaginations to be released, coming two months after the rock version of 2013’s ‘Heart Attack.’ When the single first debuted in 2015, it became an instant hit of Lovato’s as it peaked at No. 10 on Billboard Hot 100.
The reimagined version incorporates new electric guitar riffs and a dark drum beat while keeping the same playful and explosive energy found in the original. The release is more fitting of the sound found on her most recent album Holy Fvck which is her eighth studio album to date and features metal and glamor rock influences.
The intro begins with the same synth melody found in the original, except this time, a slightly distorted effect is laying over it that erupts into a strong drum beat and electric guitar combination as Lovato’s gritty vocals sing, “Tell me what you want, what you like, it’s okay/I’m a little curious too/Tell me if it’s wrong, if it’s right, I don’t care/I can keep a secret, can you?”
The song’s suggestive lyrics pair perfectly with the more mature reimagining of the song, which also features a new and exhilarating high note at the bridge’s crescendo. This stellar vocal showcase aligns with the heavy metal and rock themes and influences that Lovato is currently performing more with. This reimagined version displays not only the growth they’ve had since its original 2015 release in a stylistic way but also highlights the performer’s ever-improving vocal talent and ability.
