D Smoke and Sherie Express Their Love on “Candlelight”
Couple D Smoke and Sherie collaborate together on “Candlelight”, a song that the couple premiered on 13th February, just one day shy of Valentine’s Day. The song has a classic 90s R&B feel to it, with Sherie singing throughout most of it and featuring a verse from D Smoke towards the end.
D Smoke is a two-time Grammy nominated rapper hailing from Inglewood, California. His music deals with social issues and he is never shy about discussing politics in his art. He has released two studio albums so far, 2020’s Black Habits and 2021’s War & Wonders. His debut album saw features from the likes of Snoop Dogg, SiR and Ari Lennox.
Sherie is a singer and violinist currently based in Los Angeles. She began practicing the violin at the age of just 10. Her soulful voice and control over her singing has garnered her immense praise and comparisons to the likes of her inspirations Mariah Carey and Celine Dion. Sherie’s work sees her mix and blend pop, classical and R&B music.
The couple together have toured with Alicia Keys and also accompanied H.E.R on violin at the Oscars. The couple had actually begun writing “Candlelight”, while they were on their tour with Alicia Keys.
“Candlelight” is presented to us with a classic 90s R&B instrumental. Sherie’s sultry voice can be heard as she sings about the love that she has for her partner. The song is warm and fuzzy and definitely something that you would find on many Valentine’s Day playlists. Towards the end of the song, we see a feature from D Smoke, as he raps a few bars to finish off the song.
