Cloudy June Debuts New Music Chapter with “Cheap Wine & Vodka”

Cloudy June is a young, independent artist from Berlin who is proving that she is a force to be reckoned with. She has been a singer/songwriter for a decade now and spent 3 years as the lead singer of a death metal band. She took a step back to focus on her solo career and has taken little of her past with her, except for acknowledging her roots in this latest single.

She’s released two other singles earlier this year. “High Waist to Hell” was released in April and earned her recognition from Spotify, on its Editorial Playlist, Fresh Finds: Pop. “Pretty Pills for Broken Hearts” was released in July and reached over 100,000 video plays on TikTok. And now, “Cheap Wine & Vodka” is sure to earn her more recognition as she continues to blend her distinctively rough and mature voice with catchy pop and grunge beats.

“Cheap Wine & Vodka” is a catchy song about heartbreak and finding comfort in someone else, just to be reminded of the person you’re pining after. Echoing backing vocals are layered over guitar strums and percussive elements. The backing vocals are then layered underneath Cloudy’s powerful main vocals. Screaming vocals are littered throughout the chorus, a nod to Cloudy’s years in a death metal band. Despite the heartbreaking lyrics, the song still winds up being masterfully soothing.

Who knew heartbreak could sound so beautiful?

You can stream the song and listen to it below. Cloudy June is definitely artist to watch.
