On Friday, February 18, Ontario-based singer and songwriter Christian Lalama released a new single, “Girlfriend,” alongside an accompanying music video. This marks his first new single in nearly two years.

On the release of his new song, Christian comments, “I’m so excited for my fans to hear [Girlfriend]. It’s my first release in a while and it showcases how my sound has grown over the past few years. I hope you love it!”

The single is a poppy, upbeat and feel-good anthem that features Christian’s mellow vocals backed by strong instrumental performances. The lyrics play loose and fast, adding to the appeal of the song. “Time to cash in, I might break you off, I just came to win it all,” Christian sings. “It’s all or nothin’, what you tryna do? This a game only played for two and, baby, I ain’t come to lose!”

This young up-and-coming artist has gone viral on several major platforms for his unique blend of pop and R&B. At only 18-years-old, Christian has amassed more than 1.5 million followers on TikTok and nearly 75 million views on YouTube. Recently signed to new management under The Shalizi Group (Marshmello, Alesso), the Atlantic Records pop/R&B artist interpolates Fabolous, P. Diddy & Jagged Edge’s “Trade It All (Part 2),” originally found on the 2002 Barbershop soundtrack, on his first feel-good track since 2020.

“Girlfriend” follows Christian’s 2018 label debut single “Tic Toc” plus a string of increasingly acclaimed singles including “Gotta Be You,” “Knocked Me Off My Feet,” “FrFr” and “Miss Me.” The music video for the latter premiered via Billboard and is now approaching 1.5M views at YouTube. Along the way, critical praise has rolled in from E! News, LadyGunn, Young Hollywood, Idolator, TigerBeat, Entertainment Tonight, Hollywire and more.
