Empire of the Sun is back with their third release single, “Cherry Blossom,” from the upcoming album Ask That God.
Following the release of past promotional singles “Changes” and “Music On The Radio,” the band continues to deliver its visionary production sounds while staying true to their theme. To clarify the meaning behind the track, the band states:
This song is about seeing the majesty and beauty that lies before our very eyes. Making sure you don’t lose what is precious by taking it for granted. It’s essentially a love song – our souls are sewing our fortune. Love is a traveller, it has no expiry date, it moves through the expanse of time, to far off places, through far off times.”

The rightfully self-proclaimed “Astral-Wizards of Electro-pop” stun as usual with their breathtaking music video, which was filmed in Thailand. Shot by acclaimed filmmaker Michael Maxxis, known for his participation in the group’s past two videos and Elle King’s “Ex’s & Oh’s”, he teams up with AUJIK to help transport the vision of “Cherry Blossom” to new heights.
The song is a stunning soundscape overall, combining the band’s signature electropop sound with a new, heightened elevation. Vocally, there is an atmospheric effect, certainly fitting for the transcendent quality the band’s music tends to produce.
