By now the hard techno and dance music scenes are fully aware of the arrival of Sara Landry. She has taken the world by storm with her relentless tour schedule that includes performances at festivals such as EDC Las Vegas, all the way to performing all night long at The Caverns in Nashville, TN. Sara Landry has become one of the biggest techno ticket sellers in the world, and that has been rewarded with a chance to make history as the first hard techno artist to perform on the Tomorrowland Main Stage.

As she preps for her album release, the High Priestess has returned with yet another single release for listeners entitled “Prisoner“. Coming off of her latest release, “Heaven“, Sara Landry has teamed up with Alex Farrel to strongly desired techno track. “Prisoner” serves as the second single released from Landry’s anticipated debut album. With “Heaven“, Landry created a techno tune that is meant for upbeat dancing and creating party vibes. In “Prisoner” however, she goes the opposite route and creates a dark room anthem that will be appreciated in clubs and undergrounds alike. Check out this clip where it is doing damage in that exact setting.

Sara Landry’s and Alex Farrel’s unique production styles made for the perfect storm.

Prisoner” combines chaos and ritual in a powerful way, highlighting Landry’s and Farrel’s skill in creating a track that remains melodic while still feeling dark and heavy. The strong bassline and hypnotic vocal elements topped off the extreme tempo sends listeners on a journey that is now expected under the guidance of the High Priestess. One of our favorite key moments from the track happens around the three minute mark once the first break is nearing its end. The hypnotizing vocal makes a subtle return right before the new drop, which is enhanced even further with sirens that help darken the mood during the final dance section.

The track came to life spontaneously when Landry texted Farell after he landed in Amsterdam late last year. In just a few hours, and right before Farell’s Verknipt performance that evening, the track was completely finished and ready to be tested amongst the fans. With it now having an official release, it is safe to say it was appreciated. It is one thing for producers to get tracks done themselves at this rate, but to be able to call on a friend and create a song this good in a matter of a few hours is a true accomplishment. The collaboration shows the strong connection between the two and the way they are completely comfortable blending together producing styles to create unique sounds.

The two really seem to have great chemistry working together, as shown by this quote from Sara.

“Alex is one of my favorite producers right now and a regular on HEKATE, so when it came to deciding which artists I wanted to work with on my upcoming collab album, it was a no brainer to cook something up with him. ‘Prisoner’ is a peak set thumping banger and it has torn the roof off some of the clubs I’ve played at recently.  You can really hear both mine and Alex’s production styles in this one. It is the ideal follow up track to ‘Heaven’ to show the vibe of what to expect from the rest of the album.”

Stories such as these are amazing to hear when discussing and appreciating the music itself. But it reassuring and fulfilling to know that someone with so much influence and popularity in the scene at the moment is willing to continue to put on for other artists, as Landry continues to do. These sorts of moves are what it takes for music scenes to thrive and continue to grow the way most, if not all, fans want to have happen.

Be sure to stay in tune with Sara Landry’s socials for the rest of her upcoming news and releases.

Hi! My name is Josh and I have been attending concerts and festivals of all kinds for over a decade. While I can appreciate all music in some capacity, my true passion lies within various subgenres of metal, edm, and kpop. Late fall of 2022 I decided I wanted to be better about documenting some of those experiences. So what better way than to pick up a camera and start capturing some content to share with the world? The journey has been fun thus far, and I can't wait to see what things I will have to share for you as it continues. I hope we cross paths at a show soon!
