CESC EVOKES ALL THE VAST EMOTIONS OF LOVE IN UPTEMPO MODERN ROCK SONG THAT SERVES AS LEAD FOR DEBUT ALBUM, “LETTER TO YOU”
For anyone who says that modern rock music is dead or a too-tame version of its 1970’s-era brother, one need look no further than Spanish musician Cesc to be shown otherwise. With his latest song, “Letter to You,” the first single that will be off his as-yet-unannounced debut album, Cesc shows just how emotional a song can be while still retaining a heavy edge. Even the most brooding or stoic listener would be hard-pressed to not be moved by Cesc’s powerful vocal delivery during “Letter to You,” with its ethos-driven opening lyrics cutting right to the chase: “It’s been so long / Trying to show / My love for you / The one that made us glow / We’ve been through hell / But no one can’t tell / So before you leave / Believe I’ve loved you well.” The track, much like Cesc’s other output, sounds reminiscent of Kings of Leon — in particular, the equally-compelling powerhouse of a song, “Use Somebody.” But there is no mistaking “Letter to You” as anyone else’s, from its solid build-up to its masterful arrangement. Cesc is one to watch for sure — and he knows exactly how to describe the best qualities of his latest single:
“‘Letter to You’ is a song about passionate love, and the contradictions, illusions, disappointments, and doubts we face in love. ‘Letter to You” … puts a voice in this single to all those things we still have pending, to say to those we love. Those things that we didn’t dare to say. Those things that we regret not saying so make us suffer.”
