Gracing fans with their first ever full English release, BTS dropped “Dynamite” on Friday, August 21st.

The South Korean-pop boy band continued their 2020 reunion strong with a fresh single that hit the charts this week, and is expected to reach to No. 1 on Billboard’s Hot 100. This would be record-breaking for them in the music industry.

Earlier this week, the band released the accompanying music video, which also broke the YouTube premiere record with a whopping 101 million views in its first twenty-four hours online. The video now has over 200 million views, and counting.

BTS has broken records with their previous single, “On,” earlier this year (becoming No. 4 on Billboard’s chart), but “Dynamite” continues to break records as the week passes.

Released to energize fans in the middle of the pandemic, “Dynamite” initially wasn’t a song that was planned to be released at all. However, as soon as they heard it, they wanted the energy it gave them to be spread around to their fans as soon as possible.

With the lockdown shaking up the entire world, many have been left discouraged, feeling helpless, or hopeless. The band felt a song that wasn’t meant to be taken too seriously would be the perfect pick-me-up.
“Even if you’re going through tough times, let’s do what we can in our places, and find freedom and happiness through dance and music.”
