Brenna Erickson Releases First Single of 2021, “One Hundred” with a Gentle Message

Read Time:1 Minute, 45 Second

Brenna Erickson recently released her first single of 2021 and it has the cutest and most heart-warming message. You know those messages you see on social media sometimes that say “I don’t know who needs to hear this today, but [positive affirmation?” This single is just that, in song form. It’s a pleasant little pick-me-up for your week delivered in a delightful sonic package.

Brenna is an American pop songwriter and artist based in Jacksonville, FL. Born in a Minnesota small town to two music teachers, she has always had the ambition of creating music, which led her to study music production in Memphis, TN at the age of 18. Inspired by pop producers such as Max Martin and Shellback, who created the sounds of her childhood, Brenna self-produces songs featuring fresh productions, unique melodies, and honest lyrics. She has released a handful of singers over the last two years, including ultra-relatable “Things To Do” a couple of months into quarantine last year.

“One Hundred” is her latest single and was written for a friend who was going through a rough time. She wanted to let her friend know that she would be there for them and that everything would be okay. It also serves as a reminder to all of her listeners to be gentle with ourselves and to lean on our support systems because it’s okay not to be 100% all the time.

Her gentle reminder has lasting relevance, but it is especially timely now that we are approaching one year of COVID-19 restrictions and coming out of an especially tough winter. Her synth-pop production creates a warm and inviting atmosphere for her velvety vocals. Her lyrics relay her uplifting message perfectly. She makes it clear that she’s willing to be there when her friend needs her and to help take some weight off their shoulders. The sway of the song is hypnotic. She scatters electronic elements throughout to give it more depth. Her tone remains comforting as she continues to reassure her friend.
