Avra & Ida Long Add a Flirty Jazz track to Lamour Record’s “Because We Love Music” 2020 Compilation

For the last five years, Stockholm-based Lamour Records has created a free yearly compilation of some of the best new Swedish electronic and ambient tracks fittingly titled “Because We Love Music.” This year, a true standout comes from a collaboration between techno/house artist Avra and indie-pop artist Ida Long that seamlessly blends the duo’s backgrounds and skill sets. “Losing Control” is a flirty jazz-tronica single that features cool brass tracks layered within a warm, lo-fi sound. Ida’s sultry vocals make a perfect compliment to Avra’s synth mastery, making this song a great addition to the label’s compilation this year.

Since Avra has a background in instrumental music, it felt more natural to create a sound where it feels like there’s an entire band playing. So he always starts off his production by experimenting with a mixture of electronic and acoustic instruments. The jazzy vibe sort of just happened. Ida had her vocal training in jazz but has a background in different genres and bands. Since this collaboration is still fresh it feels like we are experimenting and trying out what feels good and exciting in this moment. An idea unfolds and we just go with it.
