“Imposter Syndrome” is the first peak into A Dream About Love, an upcoming EP by Circa Survive, releasing on October 22 and out via Rise Records. The single and overarching project marks the band making a grand return, as their previous EP, The Amulet, first premiered back in 2017.

Circa Survive has received praise from the likes of Substream and Alt Press, as well as selling over 785k consumption albums in the U.S., and 214 million streams across many platforms. Overall, this project is dear to lead vocalist Anthony Green, who is a drug abuse survivor and faced many struggles during the likes of the pandemic.

“This was the last song I wrote before I went into rehab two years ago. The song is about forgiveness and accountability and represents a sense of starting over for me, scrapping the blueprints and building from scratch in every aspect of our life.”

~ Anthony Green

Released on October 8, 2021 and directed by Bob Sweeney, the music video for “Imposter Syndrome” gives off a feeling of melancholy and helplessness. Here, we see Green featuring a painful expression as he is pulled about by an unknown figure, as it shaves his head and covers his face. With an immensely heavy picture, the lyrics follow suit with lines such as “I was searching for a painless way to die” and “America is burning from the inside out, we were never meant to be free.” The vulnerability that Green allows us to see is heart-wrenching and hard to watch, but it is a stark reminder of mental health, and not allowing yourself to pass the threshold of no return.

Don’t forget to to keep an eye out for A Dream About Love, which will be releasing on October 22 via Rise Records. The band is also restarting their Blue Sky Noise anniversary tour, with dates and tickets being available here.
