A Mood: i wanna kiss boys cos i’m bored

I have to be honest I almost didn’t give this song a chance due to the seemingly immature title, but Lucy Sugerman impressed me! The lyrics are honest and empowering and the melodies are catchy. A classic electric guitar carries a beach-vibe while Lucy delivers some real talk via smooth R&B vocals for a fun indie pop tune.

The track is accompanied by a clever and comical music video featuring Lucy Sugerman and her girl friends as a panel interviewing her past boy friends. They begin interrogating these “too cool for school” boys about why things may have ended between them and Lucy. Their unsurprising responses range from “it wasn’t me, it was definitely you” and “had to focus on his rap career” to “it wasn’t ever serious,” and of course everyone’s favorite… the “ghoster.”

At just 19, Lucy Sugerman has been writing and performing music for many years already, her successes including sold out headline shows at Smith’s Alternative, supporting Ali & Nicole Miller at Canberra Day in the Park, and receiving an APRA AMCO’s Women in Music Mentorships. “i wanna kiss boys cos i’m bored” is available on all streaming services, and is just a taste of what Lucy has in store for us. If you like this, consider checking out her debut single “I’d Do It All Again,” a more stripped down bedroom pop tune that really showcases her gorgeous voice. We are looking forward to more music from this talented young artist in 2021.
