keshi Gives an Honest Confession in Music Video for “UNDERSTAND”
keshi, real name Casey Luong, released “UNDERSTAND” along with a cinematic music video. The singer-songwriter created another immersive and reflective song that has once again captivated fans.
He sings, he writes, he produces and he even performs multiple instruments. It wouldn’t take too long for keshi and his music to blow up, honestly expressing emotions like love and loneliness. keshi’s music is as introspective as the artist himself. It’s as if he’s responding to these big questions and wondering aloud through his songs.
Having your dreams come true, I had to ask myself, is it everything that I ever wanted? Success, fame, money, and other material things, those are nice, but they’re not the things that make you happy at the end of the day.

The music video begins like a documentary with keshi sitting in front of the camera. He isn’t conscious of its presence and is focused on playing his guitar and writing ideas down— perhaps it is a glimpse into the making of the very song we’re hearing.
There is an aesthetic that evokes older, indie cinema. Echoing films like Haru (Yoshimitsu Morita, 1996) and Blue (Hiroshi Ando, 2002), the video captures the beautiful simplicity of ordinary things. A montage of pairs, shoes, straws and toothbrushes are shown in a grainy and faded aesthetic. It’s implied that two is better than one, that being with someone we love is only natural.
The calm composition fits so well with keshi’s soft voice and ties everything together and makes it all make sense. The lyrics talk about feeling complete, especially with someone who understands. It’s that very certainty that gives the singer the strength to take their hand.

keshi just completed his tour, HELL & BACK, in April, selling out stadiums all around the globe.
