ZHU, Devault, and BabyJake Reveal New Single
At times, music can serve as a confessional because it allows for artists to pour their hidden desires onto the listener. This is the route that Grammy-nominated artist ZHU and collaborators Devault and BabyJake took for their single “Revelations,” released via Astralwerks.
Production-wise, the song is slow-burning with seductive, dark R&B synths that are reminiscent of The Weeknd’s After Hours – era. The confessional, brooding lyrics compliment it as ZHU and BabyJake take turns singing about what they want their lovers to see in them. In addition, an accompanying music video was released this past month.
The seductiveness is upgraded into full sexiness as the darkly-lit music video includes high-fashion models awaiting to enter a confessional booth. Both ZHU and BabyJake are included in the voyeuristic scenery as they are singing while they are being stared at through a peephole.
“Revelation” is ZHU’s first release since last summer’s Musical Chairs Mixtape (Vol.1). After the release, the artist revealed that there is more music to come this year and that fans should expect a new era.
“I’m excited to get into this new era of my artistry and start releasing music again. There will be many revelations to come.”
Aside from being nominated for a Grammy for his successful dance hit “Faded,” ZHU has made waves in the fashion industry by collaborating with Emmy Slattery for his NIGHTDAY fashion line which has been met with acclaim by Billboard Magazine. His debut album GENERATIONWHY topped Billboard’s Dance/Electronic Albums Chart and the Billboard 200.
On the other hand, Devault has worked and toured with established names like Rihanna, DJ Snake, and Madeon. His 2019 EP JADE received rave reviews from Playboy, Flaunt Magazine, and Forbes. BabyJake’s retro-glamour has earned him over a million streams, with “Cigarettes on Patio” being the track that put him on the map.
