We Can’t Get “Enough” Of Conscious Hip-Hop Artist Phocuz’s New Single

Delivering an honest, heartfelt “buffet” of lyrics on his single “Enough”, Phocuz should be on everyone’s radar for rising talent in 2022. With a release date of March 4th, the single marked the rap artist’s first release of the year and garnered nearly four thousand streams on Spotify.

Phocuz is unique in both his sound and lyricism. Instead of using his music as an outlet to boast about material items, the conscious hip-hop artist makes it a point to celebrate his struggles and the barriers he has overcome while pursuing his dreams as a creative. The track, produced by the talented J-Mac, is both on trend and incomparable. It’s easy to see that the track was perfectly tailored to match Phocuz’s flow and style, and even further conveys the overall message of the song. What really interests me, however, about “Enough” is its longevity. It is a song that is best appreciated by multiple listens, as you discover more and more elements to the lyrics and production the more you listen.

“I slept on the beat for a month and discovered it after playing beats with my homie Jordan (@freshoutholiday),” explains Phocuz. “He thought it was bonkers and couldn’t believe I hadn’t already written to it!”.

While Phocuz and J-Mac grew up just 30 minutes away from one another in North Carolina, they never met until a recording session in 9th Wonder’s NCCU studio in 2008. They quickly began collaborating, producing, and writing together -leading to the duo relocating to Atlanta, Georgia in hopes of furthering their careers. In 2017, they released their first joint project, “Vibes R Eternal”. From that point on, the two have been unstoppable in the music scene.

If you want to check out Phocuz and J-Mac, you can listen to their single “Enough” on major streaming platforms such as Apple Music, SoundCloud, and Spotify.
