Udoka Malachi Collaborates With Deanna Dilandro On Indie R&B Single “June XX”
Nigerian-American R&B artist Udoka Malachi released his single “June XX” on March 25th. Collaborating with singer Deanna Dilandro, the track was the second single released from his 2022 debut album “Palace Lumumba” -which was dropped the following month.
Udoka Malachi first started making music in high school, where he began rapping casually as a creative outlet. He decided that his true calling was production, as it allowed him to have more control over his creative visions. While still in high school, Malachi even formed his own group called “The Brotherhood”. The group of nine MCs worked together to garner attention through performances and distributing their own CDs. Following high school, the group disbanded -leading Malachi to continue to pursue production professionally. Later on in 2003, he began his musical journey as a producer for multiple hip-hop and R&B artists in the Seattle, Washington area. He continued to produce for the next decade, perfecting his craft through working on various experimental projects with different unique artists. Malachi, however, chose to make his education his priority while studying in college.

It wasn’t until 2020 that the hip-hop artist allowed music to become the forefront of his passions again. After a nine year hiatus, Malachi returned to creating music -now as a singer, songwriter, guitarist, and producer. Now in 2022, Malachi has released various successful projects that have amassed him several thousand streams on Spotify. “June XX”, one of his most recent releases, describes the anxious feeling associated with summer’s expectations. It’s a chill, vibrant track that will have you singing along by the second listen. Deanna Dilandro perfectly matches Udoka Malachi’s vocals -creating something incredibly reminiscent of Chance the Rapper’s earlier projects.
If you want to keep up with Udoka Malachi and his future projects, you can follow him on major streaming platforms such as SoundCloud, Apple Music, Spotify, and YouTube.
