Australian singer/songwriter Blake Rose released his new single “How Do We Stay In Love” on July 20 via AWAL Recordings. In addition, an accompanying video follows it.
The song is characterized by soft synths and breezy instrumentals. Rose showcases his emotional side with lyrics that talk about the anxious feeling about growing up and losing contact with those around you. In fact, he explained that the song is inspired by a tragedy that his childhood friends experienced.
“When I was a kid, my best friends (who were sisters) lived down the street from me. We used to go to the same school and became very close. While we were still very young, their Mum sadly passed away and although over time, we ended up drifting apart, I still find myself thinking about that loss and how devastating it must have been for them. This song is inspired by my childhood friends, and how difficult it must be to go on loving life while your whole world crumbles around you.”

The music video captures the feelings of nostalgia as we find the singer reminiscing about his life in his childhood neighborhood. It alternates between a young boy and Rose and then the video ends with both meeting each other. This can represent the fact that he has accepted that he has grown up and will appreciate his childhood.
Currently, Rose is on a world tour with Lauren Spencer Smith and he serves as her supporting artist. They are touring in North America and Australia/New Zealand. Additional information about the dates can be seen down below.
This year has been busy for the songwriter. Earlier this year, he released his EP You’ll Get It When You’re Older via AWAL Recordings, which NPR appropriately labeled “a musical portrayal of growing up and gaining wisdom, curiosity and regret”, and lead UPROXX to proclaim “If you haven’t been introduced to Perth export Blake Rose yet, get familiar.”
