Banger after banger! We have seen this summer with hot-pink tinted glasses and the fun is yet to finish. EDM musicians HUGEL and Francis Mercier collaborated on the track “NaNa Djon” which samples the vocals of the late Burkinabé musician and singer-songwriter Victor Démé. The song was released this past Friday via Insomniac Records.
The song encapsulates the feelings of hot summer nights and the festivity of the season. In addition, it takes us on a global trip with its African Folk and Mediterranean club beats. We are able to take it all in from the comfort of our homes.
The track serves as a tribute to the late musician Victor Démé and the African culture. In addition, it bring the signature Latin-influenced style of HUGEL. The musician claims that he has been inspired by the Ibiza club scene. Likewise, Mercier hails from Haiti and brings his unique brand of Caribbean culture onto his music.
Luckily for them, they have managed to reach an international audience. For instance, both musicians have over a million streams on Spotify and have played at critically acclaimed music festivals like Coachella, EDC Vegas, and venues located internationally like Paris and Istanbul.
