The world’s leading music video network, VEVO, just announced the release of Ariana Grande’s official live performance of track “safety net” featuring Ty Dolla $ign from her latest full-length album, Positions. This performance, as well as her other performance on VEVO of “POV” and her appearance with The Weeknd on the iHeartRadio Awards, are some of the first musical public appearances we’ve heard from her since the pandemic wrought havoc on the music industry and the world as we know it.

VEVO has previously worked with Ariana Grande in 2013 and 2016 for her “VEVO Presents” performances of “Dangerous Woman,” “Be Alright,” “Leave Me Lonely,” “Greedy,” and “Into You.” Ariana was one of VEVO’s Top 10 Worldwide Most Watched Artists of 2020 and shattered the VEVO 24 Hour View Count Record in 2018 with her video for “thank u, next” with a staggering 50 million views.

Ariana’s “safety net” Official Live Performance is rooted in the concept of duality. As she serenades viewers under a single spotlight while seeming to float along a field of flowers, the emotion in her voice grips onto the heart and holds it tight. And as you hold your breath and listen, you hear her process through falling in love again after feeling like it wasn’t possible again. You sense the anxiety of it, the fear of falling and never being able to get back up again. Ty Dolla $ign joins in harmony with Ariana as they sing, “I’ve never been this scared before/Feelings I just can’t ignore/Don’t know if I should fight or fly/But I don’t mind.”

We’ve loved Ariana’s music for years, and it’s been such a privilege to watch her artistry grow and evolve. An immensely creative and collaborative artist is key to these visually stunning performances and Ariana embodies that – her efforts translated beautifully onscreen. We look forward to seeing her continue to blossom and hope everyone enjoys watching these.
