We caught metal act Veil of Maya and some friends on the [M]Other Tour. Check out what we had to say about the performance!
Left to Suffer‘s front man opened with the words “I better see movement from start to finish,” and let’s just say the crowd did not disappoint! This is where the energy from the show picked up entirely and did not cease to come back down until the headliner. After the first two songs, Taylor called for crowd surfers for the rest of the set and he got exactly that. It has been awhile since we have seen a crowd maintain crowd surfers and a really good looking mosh pit, especially with an opening performance. The band did not disappoint!
Speed, speed, speed are the exact vibes that we got from Angelmaker. From the breakneck pace of their blastbeats, to the higest of high pitched screams, this band did everything. With two front men handling the vocals, there was always someone able to interact with fans directly in their faces. There were multiple moments where various members would go stand on the barricade and allow the fans to yell the lyrics back to their faces. From a visual standpoint they stood out as well, one of the few bands left who are still masters of the synchronized head-bang.
You know a band is special when they can stack a billing for an entire tour and still come out and elevate the night even further. Each band that opened before them has their own right to make their case as a headlining act, but this is the [M]other Tour, and Veil of Maya reminded everyone of just that. The visuals for their set were amazing. The combination of blue, red, and green lights where incredibly well suited for the band’s heavy yet clean style of metal. Peak moments from this set were when they performed “It’s Not Safe to Swim Today” and “Mikasa”. The set was crafted perfectly so that the fans did get breaks when they needed, but when it was time to pick the energy back up fron tman Lukas Magyar was quick to let the crowd know.
Stay tuned for more updates on Veil of Maya!
