Varas Lights Our Path With ‘Careful What You Wish For’

Admit it or not, all of us have engaged in the act of wishing. Whether for a material thing, person or a situation, we’ve all wished our hearts out just for those to come true. Sure most of the desires on our “wish list” are often hard to attain or impossible and yet that never fazes us. We still willingly participate in it in the comfort of our minds or out loud in the open so that the universe could hear. Which is encouraging because it’s a sign that hope is still alive and kicking despite what’s going on today.

While wishes are a force of good, they could turn to the dark side quickly when in the wrong hands. Given that everyone has the ability to do so, this only becomes a problem when a higher entity is involved. This same struggle between light and dark can be felt in Swedish based artist Benjamin Muńoz Varas aka Varas’ latest song ‘Careful What You Wish For. Released March 30th in all major streaming platforms and part of the newest EP ‘There You Go!’. It’s an energy boost of a track that reminds us to be mindful of what wishes we put out there because we never know who’s listening.

As much as it is a warning for all of us. ‘Careful What You Wish For’ through Varas’ excellent storytelling is a tale we should all pay attention to. With its calm yet expressive vocals and it’s enticing instrumentals. Varas creates for us this modern day parable about how to treat others. It seeks for us to diffuse the sinister thoughts brought by anger, envy etc. as much as we can so that they don’t become ammunition to hurt others. Moreover challenging us to do the right thing, even when things aren’t falling in our favor. So be wary of how to proceed. You might regret what comes next.

A more mature take of how humanity works, Varas ‘Careful What You Wish For’ stamps in us the idea that modern music isn’t just for fun or pure relaxation. Even though the industry has gone through a lot of technological advances and has grown as a result. In its core is still that spirit of wanting to change the world for the better. It may not sound like it used to, but the heart is still there – it never died.
