Upcoming R&B Artist, Ria Barkr, Drops New Single, “morning would”
Nashville R&B singer-songwriter, Ria Barkr, has just released her new single, “morning would.” As you might be able to guess from the title, the song is a play on words to foreshadow the sensual themes surrounding it. Although it’s easy to assume that the lyrics might be explicit in some way, Barkr gracefully sings and raps the lyrics in an intimate and classy manner – not to mention, her voice perfectly compliments the rhythm and beat of the music.
Barkr co-wrote the song with close friend CJ-O, revealing the hesitations she faced at first:
“It was so fun co-writing this song with my best friend, CJ-O. When I started on the verses I had some trouble finding inspiration so CJ-O said, ‘Try writing the verses with SZA in mind.’ I had never weaved lyrics into such a rhythmic melody before but once I started it just flowed out of me.”
Though Ria Barkr is new to the game, she’s continuously proven herself with her unique range of vocals and drive to perform and release rhythmic masterpieces. Prior to “morning would,” Barkr has also dropped “monday,” “stopwatch,” “tennis,” and “work for it” – all tracks that will be on her debut EP, alpha she, coming this spring.
When asked about the story her upcoming debut EP will tell, Barkr states:
“I think a lot of female empowerment is really what I am going for. A lot of the EP is about sex. At the same time, as a female talking about it feels very empowering. Most of the time it’s men. Now, it has gotten better, where both females and men talk about it. I just feel it’s very empowering to come from a female. The position I come in with each song is more female empowerment.”
