Up And Away We Go In KÈDU CARLÖ’s ‘Space Girl Finds Cash’

Space is this vast playground that’s always captured our hearts and imaginations. We may only know a fraction of what’s out there and yet we’re still drawn to it like a moth to a flame. So much so that we’ve literally created a genre dedicated to it; sci-fi. A mix of what we know (so far) filled in by the gaps of our imaginations. Our intense love for space and inherent creativity shine as if stars in the night sky.

A shooting star that hits the ground, New Zealand duo KÈDU CARLÖ (Jess Penson X Carly Gill) explodes in the scene with their latest song entitled ‘Space Girl Finds Cash’. Released May 4th in all major streaming platforms all over and part of their new album. ‘Space Girl Finds Cash’ is a playful rendition of how sci-fi film world building works. A spark of magic or perhaps a glimpse into a crystal ball. It’s KÈDU CARLÖ’s way of preparing us of what may lie ahead in the distant future.

Danceable, likable and at the same time mysterious, KÈDU CARLÖ manages to take us into hyper space. With vocals so haunting and instrumentals that pulsates faster than our own heart beat. We are all treated to a time traveling spree into the future. A point where we’ve finally established relations with other planets. Thus visiting each other is as easy as calling for an Uber or hopping on a bullet train.

More than a tour that tantalizes the senses. KÈDU CARLÖ’s ‘A Space Girl Finds Cash’ also tackles our desire for money and material things. The setting of it all might be in space and in the far future, but money still plays an integral role in society. As in the case of The Space Girl herself, finding cash is still a thing – a necessity. Mirroring our current condition of grinding and hustling left and right. All whilst making us see that our love for worldly things just won’t fade away that easy. We know how our world works, and so we try and apply that in attempts to run space itself.

At the end of the day, KÈDU CARLÖ’s ‘Space Girl Finds Cash’ for all its worth is a tune perfect for a sci fi flick. It’s overall sound and stunning picture it paints are easy to get lost in. But what it gets right is that it reels us back in allowing for some deep thinking – deeper than space itself.
