Top Singles This Week: Celebrating Pride Month

Happy Pride Month! In honor of LGBTQ+ pride, we chose to highlight some of the biggest up-and-coming queer artists. This week has a ton of awesome new songs, perfect for celebrations, parties, and all kinds of fun! If you’re looking for new music this June, keep reading to find out some of our favorite songs by some of our favorite artists.

“what would the neighbors think” by Miki Ratsula

Miki Ratsula’s vulnerable new single, “what would the neighbors think,” is a heartbreaking, incredible song about love and loss. The new track follows their first single of 2023, “jealous of my brother,” describing gender envy and familial relationships. Ratsula is a trans, non-binary artist who’s been releasing music independently since they were 16. They released their debut album, i owe it to myself, last year, taking inspiration from acoustic pop and lo-fi music to create an incredible record. Miki Ratsula is absolutely an artist to watch, with over 50 million streams and recognition from Billboard and Under the Radar. The California-based songwriter and producer will be performing at Nashville Pride alongside FLETCHER, corook, Fitz and the Tantrums, and more! Get tickets to see Miki Ratsula at Nashville Pride here.

“MOMMY” by Sizzy Rocket

Sizzy Rocket is definitely earning the title of “mother” with her new song “MOMMY”. The independent pop artist is entering a new era in her art with this new single, owning her confidence and controlling her own life. Sizzy Rocket is one of the most inspiring pop artists at the moment, with her independent and DIY approach to music rather than being signed to a huge record label. Her DIY approach allows her to have much more freedom over her work, releasing unapologetic songs with insane music videos, such as “Smells Like Sex” and “BUBBLEGUM”. Sizzy Rocket will be performing at WeHo Pride in Los Angeles, CA on June 3rd. Make sure to keep up to date with her website and Instagram to look out for new music and tour dates!

“Shape” by Victoria Canal

Victoria Canal’s new single, “Shape,” is a heartwarming song honoring her body and learning to accept, love, and appreciate the body she lives in. Canal is proud to identify as a disabled, queer, mixed-heritage woman, and that definitely shines through on “Shape.” The new single was released alongside another brand new song, “She Walks In,” which is also about learning to accept her body, yet is a much more emotionally vulnerable track about the disabled experience. These two tracks are the first release since her 2022 EP, Elegy, and has a new EP arriving this summer. Victoria Canal will be on tour this summer supporting Hozier, which you can get tickets to now!

“Nothing Is Real” by Kris Baha, Ghosts In The Machine

The Berlin-based artist Kris Baha is back under a new name, Ghosts In The Machine. Inspired by the future of technology, Ghosts In The Machine’s new single “Nothing Is Real” focuses on social media, artificial intelligence, and how it will affect our society in the long run. The unique artist combines techno and punk to create an incredible style that’s individual to Baha only. Baha is consistently pushing the boundaries and creating inspiring new works that are unlike any other. I highly recommend checking out Kris Baha’s work, as well as his new project, Ghosts In The Machine!

“Who Do You Wanna Be?” by Dream Wife

Last but certainly not least on our picks is Dream Wife’s new song, “Who Do You Wanna Be?” The new track is the fourth single released off the band’s incredible third album, Social Lubrication, out June 9. This will be following the three previous singles, “Orbit,” “Hot (Don’t Date A Musician,” and “Leech,” all three rock-heavy songs that are sure to get anyone to start head banging. The new track focuses on “running on the capitalist treadmill and falling face first on the pavement”, according to the band. The band released a killer music video alongside the new track, which you can watch here. The band is currently on a UK/US tour and will be until November 6 when they perform at Pitchfork Music Festival in Paris.

All of these artists are absolutely going to kill it in the future, already set up for success by the amazing music they’re putting out. Make sure to check all 5 of them out, and stay tuned to see our picks for next week’s top singles!
