On December 10th, “Queer Filipino/American duo” Tropic released their latest EP, Wildest Dreams, headlined by the track of the same name. “Wildest Dreams” is an electro-funk banger. I would describe it as a hybrid of Roosevelt and The Weeknd, and if that appeals to you, read on!

The instrumentation on this is fantastic. The guitar work is akin to the new work from Parcels and Roosevelt. The bass line is so funky is defies comparison at this moment. The drums are pretty standard electro-funk, but that’s not a bad thing. They absolutely move a listener to dance, and that’s the point of any kind of funk.

In addition to an incredibly funky instrumental, the vocals on this thing are astounding. That’s where The Weeknd comparison comes in. I honestly can’t believe Tropic has flown under my radar for this long, considering they have everything I look for in a regular listen. If you are a fan of any kind of funk music, be sure to listen to Tropic.

Check out “Wildest Dreams” below, and marvel with me in the perfection that it is!
