Tobias Bader Invites You To “Dance” and Lose Yourself in the Beat

Recalling the disco and soul vibes of the ’70s, Tobias Bader invites listeners to lose themselves to dance in his single, “Dance,” where he enlists the help of a number of world-class musicians to create an intoxicating atmosphere for lively funk. Remixing a previous track that appeared on his album Lost On A Star, Tobias challenged himself to create a more elevated sound, noting,

The biggest challenge for me to write is swinging songs with a catchy melody. I consider that to be the holy grail of pop music. I am really content with this attempt. The funky clavinet really takes you way back to the seventies.

Tobias Bader has been involved in music for over 35 years but says he has only just started. After wondering what he might regret later on his deathbed, with the answer being “if I didn’t realize my own music,” a switch turned and Tobias decided he is now, more than ever, ready to share his music with the world. He let his insecurities fall to the wayside and built up a repertoire of dozens of tracks, which he will release in a series of EPs and CDs. His goal with his music is to convey emotion and intention, versus wanting to create an entirely polished product, in hopes that it will better resonate with listeners.

The extensive roster of recruits for this remix includes Grammy Award-winning jazz pianist Brad Mehldau, the Jay Horns (Jel Jongen and Allard Buwalda), Dee Dee Dekkers, and Raffaëla Herbert. Tobias is a musician inspired by the music of the ’60s and ’70s – artists like Neil Young, David Bowie, Stones, Lou Reed, Fleetwood Mac, and JJ Cale. “Dance” is no exception to that inspiration and love, with its catchy instrumental work falling neatly within the dance party vibes of that era. It could also be said that the soulful lyrics not only convey a whimsical sense of fun but also the desire to make the most of life – a sentiment that Tobias has carried with him since making the decision to release music.
