The Love Story Behind Broke Royals’ “No Time For Love”

Looking for a sweet love song this spring and summer? Then give Broke Royals’ latest single, “No Time For Love,” a listen now. The song opens with a steady snare beat and electric guitar, creating an energetic and upbeat tempo sure to get anyone up and dancing.

“No Time For Love” is a modern rock song with a driving force that any fan of the New York rock scene in the early 2000s will enjoy and fall in love with. This alternative pop-rock track is all about the feeling of having no time for love until realizing life doesn’t always have a plan when it comes to meeting someone special.

Lead singer Philip Basnight describes the inspiration behind “No Time For Love,”

“When I first started dating my now-wife Rebecca, I didn’t think I had time for a relationship. I thought I needed to get my life and career in order first. In my mind, I had no time for love. But I quickly learned that life doesn’t work that way, and ‘No Time for Love’ is our tribute to that early part of our relationship.”

The couple has since married, and even plays together in Broke Royals.

Broke Royals is a band based in Washington D.C., founded in 2014, with three albums and many singles under their belt, such as “Slam Band.” Their first self-titled album came out in 2017, followed by their second album Saint Luxury in 2019. The band’s latest album, Local Support (2022), is a significant departure from their earlier work, as they reinvented their songwriting and creation process with producer Bartees Strange (who also worked with them on “No Time For Love”). Local Support received critical acclaim from the likes of Apple Music’s ALT+CTRL, Under the Radar, and Washington City Paper. “No Time For Love” is the band’s first single of 2023.
