The Inspector Cluzo, the French rock and blues duo of Laurent and Mathieu, have another priority in tandem with their music. They are organic professional farmers who run a family farm called “Lou Casse,” or “The Oak” in Gascon language. In 2015, The Inspector Cluzo put out a documentary called Rockfarmers, delving into their world as successful musicians beside dedicated farming. Now, after three years of filming, they have released a follow-up documentary, Running A Family Farm. The film, by Yan Sourigues, is out now, exclusively on Youtube.
Running A Family Farm brings audiences inside the intimate day-to-day of farm living. The film also features exclusive interviews with Grammy Award winner Vance Powell, and Professor J. Luc Guérin, researcher at ENVT and INRAE. The film highlights issues such as global warming and an uncertain future and how we all fit in.
Laurent and Mathieu produce organic wheat and corn with their own seeds, free of chemicals, hybrid seeds, and pesticides. The Inspector Cluzo belongs to a new generation of farmers who are heavily interested in an agro-ecological system challenging and fighting climate change for new generations. Their position as both artists and farmers make them role models for those who want to simultaneously pursue a dream while caring about having a positive impact on the world. The documentary is deeply seeded with the environmental themes that are also at the forefront of their latest album, HORIZON, released earlier this year.
The Inspector Cluzo was created in 2008 while Laurent (guitar and lead vocal) and Mathieu (drums) were studying physics in Mont de Marsan, where they met, and the rest was history. Since then, they have released 8 albums via their self-run record label F.TheBassPlayer Records and played in over 67 countries. They have performed at iconic festivals including France’s Lollapalooza and Japan’s Fuji Rock Festival. The Inspector Cluzo’s career is 100% self-financed, family-based and organized, and DIY, and they stand out as a one of a kind band with a unique story.
