The Head and the Heart Announce Seattle Concert for Rivers and Roads Foundation
Indie folk band The Head and the Heart plan to perform a benefit concert at the Showbox Market in Seattle on Nov.28. The money raised from the concert will go towards the River and Roads Foundation. The foundation was started by The Head and the Heart as a way to give back to their hometown of Seattle. The organisation’s aim is to support the music scene in Seattle, as it provides funds to music programs. The foundation also provides support and mental health resources to local musicians.
This is the third time that The Head and the Heart will perform at Seattle this year. Their previous two returns home had resulted in sold out shows at Marymoor Park. For the band’s benefit concert, they posted clues on their Instagram that led fans to businesses where they could pick up tickets. These businesses had agreed beforehand to help sponsor the concert. In doing so, they made scalping tickets much like a scavenger hunt.
The Head and the Heart are an indie folk band that produce soft intimate songs that will tug at your heartstrings. With tangy guitars and soothing vocals, The Head and the Heart take you to places of strong emotional consequences. Change is often a central part of their discography, with the song “Rivers and Roads”, being one of the best depictions of how people move away and grow apart from each other as time goes on.
The Head and the Heart formed in 2009, with the band members meeting each other at various open mic performances at the Conor Byrne pub in Seattle. Since their formation, they have released five studio albums, with the latest Every Shade of Blue being released this year. The albums have been met with commercial and critical acclaim from fans and reviewers alike. The band’s music has also been featured on popular tv shows such as Chuck, How I Met Your Mother and New Girl.
You can get tickets to the benefit concert at the band’s website. You can follow them on Facebook and Instagram. You can listen to their music on Youtube and Spotify.
