Casey Bishop Releases Nostalgic Cover of Elvis’ “Blue Christmas” This Holiday Season
Following the release of her self-titled debut EP via 19 Recordings/BMG, 17-year-old singer Casey Bishop kicks off the holiday season with her rendition of a timeless classic, “Blue Christmas” by Elvis Presley. Not only is Elvis one of music’s most well-known legends, he also holds a nostalgic memory for Casey Bishop, as she shares:
“Every year around Christmas time, my mom would always play Elvis’ version of ‘Blue Christmas’… I have loved this song since I was little because it reminds me of my mom.”
While “Blue Christmas” by Elvis Presley is slow-paced and embodies the sadness of a lonely Christmas, Casey Bishop twists the norm in true-fashion by starting slow and then shifting gears to her usual upbeat, rock-and-roll tune. The drums and electric guitar bring the somber song to life as her voice embraces the holiday spirit with enthusiasm and style – showcasing her vocal range throughout the song. Did we mention there’s an electric guitar solo? This song is sure to be put on repeat while you’re baking christmas cookies, setting up the tree, or simply getting festive for the season!
Don’t forget to listen to Casey’s new EP, Casey Bishop, where she delivers six tracks that tap into a vulnerable and electric side of herself, while also encapsulating her renegade aura. Bishop is one of the newest additions to the pop-rock community – giving a unique and modern-day twist to nostalgic inspirations like Fleetwood Mac and Mötley Crüe.
