With the combined talents of rising Toronto pop-artist Luna Li and future rockstar Serena Isioma, “Flower (In Full Bloom)” is put together like a sweet dream experienced in warm blankets in the slight morning’s glow. Released on September 28, 2021, the track was developed from the original instrumental idea of “Flower,” then expanded into what it is now. Serena Isioma’s verse writing is said to have “brought the song to a whole new level,” and she too is experiencing her fair share in growth, being her recent single “Sensitive” now containing over 54 million streams. Luna Li’s angelic voice can also be admired in previous tracks like “Cherry Mit” that premiered via Paper Mag, and her pandemic thoughts featured in “Alone but Not Lonely.”

“’Flower’ was originally a 60 second instrumental that I released on my jams EP earlier this year. I really liked the feel of it so I decided to expand it into a full song, and it blossomed into one of my favorite songs I’ve written.”

Featuring the soothing sounds of piano, harp, and background choir, “Flower (In Full Bloom)” actually speaks on a juxtaposing message. Luna Li delicately sheds light on the pain of watching your partner succumb into someone else, someone who only wants to gain power in what is supposed to be a loving relationship. The theme revolves around refusing to let the one you once loved use you for their own advantage, and that relationships like these are like “planting flowers when there’s no rain.” There’s no point in asking someone to stay when they don’t truly know you, and “the sun will never shine on a garden grown from power.”

In support of Japanese Breakfast, Luna Li is currently on tour in North America, which you can view the remaining dates and buy tickets for here.
