Last month on September 14th, RSD Black Friday, RecordingTheMasters, and ThinkIndie Distribution joined forces for an iconic reissuing of critically acclaimed albums for the first time ever. Included are The Avett Brothers’ Emotionalism (2007), Jamie Lidell’s Muddlin’ Gear (2000), and JD McPherson’s most recent holiday offering Socks (2018). These three albums are making their debut on cassette with this fun release! The releases will be available at participating indie record stores beginning November 26th, so all you analog junkies may want to set a date for this. Visit recordstoreday.com for additional info regarding RSD Black Friday titles and stores.

The albums will be reissued on RecordingTheMasters’ FOX C-60 high-quality audio cassette tape, offering the best sound quality in analog cassette. In addition to the album releases, RecordingTheMasters will also be making their B-1000 Portable Cassette Player available in the US, for convenient old-school music listening on-the-go.

The Record Store Day Black Friday cassette reissues follow the success of their last cassette-only reissues this past spring, which featured releases including Sturgill Simpson’s Cuttin’ Grass, Vol 1: The Butcher Shoppe Sessions, Major Lazer’s Peace Is The Mission, Maren Morris’ GIRL, Lupe Fiasco & Kaelin Eliss’ HOUSE EP, The Mavericks’ En Español, The Story So Far’s Proper Dose, and Killswitch Engage’s Atonement. These are all available now in independent record stores nationwide.

RecoringTheMasters’ Jean-Luc Renou and ThinkIndie’s Scott Register recently discussed these awesome reissues and their plans for future series with Billboard. As all analog music formats become retro in popularity, cassette tapes now outpace all other formats, including vinyl, in consumer-market growth, quadrupling since 2011. Highly esteemed artists including Eminem, Jack White, Taylor Swift, Jay-Z, Sufjan Stevens, Lana Del Rey, Muse, and Glass Animals have all released recent albums on cassette.

The most recent Cassette Store Day saw RecordingTheMasters partner with New York-based Dala Records for a limited edition mixtape. The rise in demand for analog music cassettes led to the development of RecordingTheMasters’ new compact analog cassette tape. This is the first newly produced cassette on the market to offer high-quality audio in analog format, ideal for listening, recording and archiving, and can be played on any standard compact cassette player.

The cassette tape is manufactured using legendary chemical formulas from BASF at the RTM facility in Normandy, France, the worldwide leader in the manufacturing of both audio and magnetic tape. Additional info can be found at recordingthemasters.com.

It is so exciting to anticipate the reissuing of these albums, and whats to come next, on cassette! We’ll see you in the stores on Cassette Store Day!
