In the works since 2019, “Home” by Taska Black has finally arrived for the world to hear in its totality. The Belgian songwriter, producer, and multi-instrumentalist is known widely for his atmospheric sets and lively performances, which have taken him across major venues and festivals all over the world. “Home” has been in the works since 2019 and it never seemed to click though I could never let go of it completely. After testing it out on tour the instrumentation finally started falling into place after 3 years and now the time felt right to have it be out in the open for people to hear.
Taska Black is the artistic vision of Joachim Gorrebeeck. Hailed as a “visionary producer” by Live Nation’s Ones to Watch channel and certified by Billboard Dance in their Ones to Watch series—calling him a fierce talent—Taska Black today stands as one of the fastest-rising artists in the worldwide electronic scene. He has received 100M+ streams early in his career, and is known for singles like “Running Away” and “In Your Eyes”. His genre-defying signature sound is an electrifying blend of warm melodies, sweeping harmonies, cinematic sounds, romantic synths, pop sensibilities, and anthemic vocals.
A child prodigy, Taska got an immediate start in music, picking up the violin at the tender age of 4 and later the piano at age 7. While he was initially reluctant to it—“I hated it because violin wasn’t really the coolest instrument to play,” says the artist—his early classical training instilled in him the fundamentals of music: structure, rhythm, and texture. He later expanded his musical tastes and began to consume a healthy diet of seminal rock bands, notably Red Hot Chili Peppers, Nirvana, Limp Bizkit, and AC/DC. From there, his interest grew into electronic music—where he got his start in music production—before settling into contemporary pop music.
Having supported fellow heartwarming atmospheric artist San Holo on a previous tour, Taska Black easily channels the feel-good melodies that he has come to be known for. With airy vocals and faintly resonate piano opening up the track and quickly tumbling into a danceable beat underpinning the sentimental vocals and sincere lyrics, the pleasant energy of the track immediately takes control of a listener’s heart.
