Tash Sultana and BJ The Chicago Kid prove what chemistry is with their collaboration, “Bitter Lovers.”

Both artists have alluring voices individually, so when they come together, it’s magical. The instrumentals are simple at parts, allowing the vocals to shine.
For the first three minutes, the song seems like a classic track before it breaks down. With smooth vocal harmonies and a saxophone solo, “Bitter Lovers” transports listeners into an ethereal state. It’s this type of unique outro that makes Sultana an artist to explore more.
Sultana shared that they had been a fan of BJ for a while. When they woke up to a DM from the artist about a collab, “Bitter Lovers” was born.
They shared more on the collaboration:
“It means something different to both of us, which is why we decided to split a verse each and come together in the chorus. For me, some people just think you’re going to be waiting around forever, in any capacity, for a friend, lover, or family member. I got boundaries with people, and that’s what I’m getting at in this track.”

Along with the single, the two released a lyric video chronicling their time in the studio. Watch it here:
Sultana does everything. They are a multi-instrumentalist, producer, singer, songwriter, engineer and entrepreneur. Now, they will have another EP under their belt. “SUGAR” is set to release on Aug. 11 via Lonely Lands Records — their own label.
“SUGAR” will feature “Bitter Lovers” as well as the previously released singles “James Dean” and “New York.”
Along with writing all the songs, Sultana played every instrument on the EP. Similarly, they co-engineered, produced, composed and arranged the entire project. “SUGAR” truly follows their own vision. They began working on the project in 2021, and it now serves as a reflection piece, capturing their life for the past few years. While it is a personal project, Sultana leaves the true message up to interpretation, saying no one will ever know the true meaning.
They still promise fans a mature sound, captivating the listener with unique sounds.
Before “SUGAR,” keep up with Sultana on social media. They can be followed on Instagram, Twitter and Facebook.
