STAR SEED is an experimental electronic-pop duo formed in 2020 by two producers/creatives with a handful of experience in the music industry. Their music encapsulates a collection of sounds built to merge the gap between sonic exploration, nature, spirituality, and the unknown. The duo’s debut EP Innerspace is expected to release June 2021.
In preparation for the release of their EP, the duo recently dropped the lead single. “Ultraviolet” is a collaboration with LA-based producer Tsu Nami. Released on Ophelia Records, it’s a distinctively unique introduction to what is sure to be an equally interesting EP.
The track is laced with experimental future bass rhythms and cascading ethereal vocals. Reverberating synths and vibrating melodies lay the backdrop for the chopped up bassline. The track’s impressive sound design pushes modern dance music boundaries into futuristic realms, while still maintaining a faint sense of nostalgia. While much of main production is indeed cut up and extremely experimental elements do take much of the forefront, listeners are still drawn back into classic EDM elements through the vocal production.
Give “Ultraviolet” a listen while you await the release of Innerspace.
