SIDEPIECE Kicks Off “Kiss & Tell” Tour With A Sold Out Weekend

Friday night, March 4th, there was only one place to be in Brooklyn. Kicking off their Kiss & Tell tour, SIDEPIECE brought a special performance that was for their truest fans. The show was announced taking place at a “secret location” which was revealed to be The Tent at Avant Gardner – which was a perfect spot to rave all night through the tail-end of the New York winter. The Tent was heated and spacious – which is all a real raver needs anyways (that might even be stretching it- all they really need are good speakers which The Tent certainly provided). The night was kicked off by local talent featuring WESTEND, LUCATI, KYLE KINCH, and POOLHAUS.
When you arrived to the venue, there was already a line beginning to form more than 30 min until doors opened. Fans were clearly extremely eager to be the first ones in, to get the best spot possible. The line stretched down the block. As soon as the gates were moved, the crowd rushed to make it to will call.
The Tent filled up fairly early compared to most shows. With WESTEND taking the stage at around 11:30-midnight, he was definitely a good selection to pull in the local scene as he’s well known for his collaborations with John Summit and CID. By the end of his set, The Tent was packed and properly warmed up to go all night long. Around 1 a.m., everyone grabbed a re-fill on their drinks and was more than ready to see the duo they came for.
With a cinematic intro announcing SIDEPIECE as Ricky Mears (aka Nitti) and Dylan Ragland (aka Party Favor), they jumped up – going right into their set. I want to provide lots of praise for them for not only the quality of their set, which I’ll go into more, but also the duration. I feel like it’s fairly common for bigger names to do shorter sets, but these guys were clearly here to bring a party to Brooklyn for the night. Their set went on for 4 hours – early into the morning. This surely made it a treat for fans, as they got to go all night long with their favorite dj duo. Their set featured hits such as On My Mind, Don’t Keep Me Waiting, Together, Acrobatic, and plenty of IDs that they hopefully will be releasing sometime in the next year. One of their most memorable flips was of the classic rock track Eye of the Tiger which was a playful way to blend a classic hit with a modern, youthful crowd.

Following up a perfect first night of their tour, they sold out The Palladium in Los Angeles, California. While we couldn’t personally attend that show, we have no doubt it was an amazing night. I definitely wanted to highlight a moment I saw through Instagram, where the SIDEPIECE team shared a tribute to Ukraine while performing On My Mind. This was so touching to see and really was in-line with their loving and supportive ways.

About SIDEPIECE
SIDEPIECE is the brainchild of Ricky Mears (Nitti Gritti) and Dylan Ragland (Party Favor). Under three years old, SIDEPIECE has already racked up some of the most prestigious awards in dance music, being nominated for a Grammy for Best Dance Recording in 2021 as well as having the #1 most supported dance record in the world in 2020. The duo has rapidly become one of the most sought after house acts around the world, selling out back to back days at Red Rocks Amphitheater in May of this year and already booked at some of the industry’s elite festivals and venues.
Highly esteemed producers in their own right, Party Favor and Nitti Gritti came together in 2019 to form SIDEPIECE and saw them unite their styles and help them earn a reputation for sliding between genres on the electronic music spectrum, whilst keeping firm footholds in the bass and trap worlds. Party Favor is a Mad Decent regular counting over 400 million streams and multiple chart toppers to his name globally, having collaborated with the likes of Sean Kingston, Gucci Mane, Baauer, Dillon Francis, A$AP Ferg, and more. Whereas, Nitti Gritti is a Latin Grammy Award and a Latin Billboard Music Award winning producer for his work on Bad Bunny’s album ‘x100pre’ and the song “200MPH”, along with recently being given the #14 spot in the ‘2020 Best Producers’ ranking.
