SEB shares new surreal music video for “god of the sunsets”

On October 6, Los Angeles-based artist SEB released the official music video for “god of the sunsets.” This song is the first release since his debut EP in the summer, IT’S OKAY, WE’RE DREAMING, and is a personal tribute to the titular sunsets, which he thanks for always being there for him when he wakes.

These sunsets are a personal inspiration to the singer, SEB states. “There’s something beautiful, yet so tragic about sunsets; for a short moment at the end of every day, the sky is lit up with brilliance while counting down to darkness at the same time. I try to capture that feeling whenever I write music,” says SEB.

Both the video and the music reflects this tribute. The music video features a 90’s sort of grainy screen as SEB performs for the camera, his face lit by the glow of a sunset. The seductive yet cynical lyrics blend perfectly into a mournful yet determined drone that complements the atmosphere of the video, blending together to produce a sound and style that is utterly unique to SEB.

This new single is a narrative introduction for the character SEB revealed in his debut EP, IT’S OKAY, WE’RE DREAMING, which was hinted at in his recent “All Eyes On” feature for SPIN. This is only a peek behind the curtain into the layered world SEB established in his last project and will surely pave the way for more music to come.

While we wait for this LA-based wunderkind to share more of his talent with us, stream/buy IT’S OKAY, WE’RE DREAMING here, and watch the dreamy video for “god of the sunsets” here!
