An Intimate Moment with Sara Kays in Latest Single, “When You Look At Me”

Celebrating her twenty-third birthday in stunningly crafted new track, Sara Kays’ shares “When You Look At Me,” out now on all listening platforms. As our first female featured on the cover of our magazine; we swell with excitement when it comes to all things Sara Kays.

Since the RIAA gold-certified singer-songwriter’s viral rise to fame with single, “Remember That Night,” amassing close to 200 million streams on Spotify alone, Sara is just getting things started as her heartfelt and intimate melodies reverberate within the souls of her adoring fanbase. The acclaimed Nashville-based musician recently shared an early demo of “When You Look At Me” on her hugely popular TikTok and almost immediately earned more than 1.7M views and close to 500K likes. In her signature fashion, inspired by the response, she quickly hit the studio to record an official version of the song.

“When You Look At Me,” is about feeling like the person you’re with doesn’t look at you the same anymore, or act like they used to around you. I wrote this song about a month ago when I was feeling that way in my relationship, and decided to record it shortly after that, while it was still real to me.

The single begins with a calming aura of acoustic tones as Sara’s voice pours into the scene with an ease that is only hers. The melancholic lyrics within perch inside the soul. A perfect poetry flows from her hands with her acoustic guitar and lips sound a time capsule of moments of peak insecurity in a relationship. And now, forever, the world can hold this song in their hands and find a sense of peace and comfort knowing they’re not alone in their insecurities. That alone speaks for itself; and the softness in her voice adds an all the more gentler tone; while the world may shame us for our insecurities, we have a friend in her who will hear us out and know we are safe and will be okay again.

To further mark the occasion, Kays has unveiled plans to support one of her favorite artists, Alec Benjamin, on tour this spring with dates kicking off April 9th at Spokane, WA’s Knitting Factory and traveling through mid-May (full itinerary below).
