SAM SMITH SHARES ACOUSTIC VERSION OF UPLIFTING SINGLE “LOVE ME MORE”

Following the release of their highly anticipated “Love Me More,” multi-platinum, Grammy, BRIT, Golden Globe, and Oscar-winning artist Sam Smith shared a deeply intimate acoustic version of the soul searching single. Download and stream “Love Me More (Acoustic)” here. This acoustic rendition was filmed at the iconic Capitol Records Tower in Los Angeles; the video is celebratory of the self, of friends, and of what makes up a life––one that’s worth living.

Smith has always been a heart-wrenching songwriter, no stranger to drawing on themes of self-love (and hatred), loving others and relationships, and coming to terms with the general unease that follows from inhabiting a body and a culture space that rejects normative assimilation. With “Love Me More,” Smith turns inward once again, only now with a brighter story to tell. The track sees the artist face themselves––away from the spiteful glare of a mirror this time––and decide to live fully, openly, and loving within that self.

A simple but affecting ode to self-acceptance, and Smith delivers it with a breezy lightness that convincingly brings the message home…The song, like Smith, keeps moving forward with a confident spring in its step.

“I wrote this song for anyone who feels different, anyone who has to stop themselves every day from saying unkind things to themselves, in their head, all the time,” explains Sam Smith. “I felt like that for the longest time and slowly I’m learning how to just be nice to myself. I wanted to share that because I captured it in this song. Over the last two years, music has been my therapy more than ever. So I hope this song can be your friend.”

And a friend it might be to anyone who listens, because “Love Me More” speaks to something at the heart of the contemporary human malaise: self acceptance, over and against the swells inhibitory judgment.

Album art, “Love Me More”

“Love Me More” is a candid journey of self discovery, created by one of the most celebrated pop artists of our generation. Sam created this uplifting track with long-time collaborators Jimmy Naples and Stargate. Listen to the track on Spotify, and while you’re there, stay a while. Sam’s got a lot to give.
